Hello Walt,
I agree with W2UP and others. Nothing really more difficult about it,
the extra equipment was usually the reason for lower activity. I got my
first DXCC, a mixed one in 1974 and it was #14459.
RTTY DXing started for me in 1984 after I ran out of things to work on
CW and SSB. My RTTY DXCC is #234 issued 1989. For quite a while, there
was no separate DXCC for RTTY. From your number, looks like growth in
RTTY DXing, at least for the DXCC is still much lower than SSB. Probably
same reasons, though soundcard RTTY could change that.
November 1999, I got the letter from DXCC desk saying I had made the
Honor Roll. Still need 7O, BS7, FT8X, P5 and VK0/M. So, things very slow
here. Have a PC setup for soundcard modes. Have worked PK31, others like
it, used MMTTY, its ok. But for me RTTY will still be the way to work
rare DX for at least the time being. Also, for contesting.
I seldom comment here, but do enjoy reading all the messages.
73 and will see you in the CQ/RJ the end of the month, N3UN Wayne.
