Jim,
I've thought it through and see no reason why this would not set up NA to
work properly during the contest. The alias (.ALI) file would map all of
the Ontario counties to "ON" (for Ontario). When you finish the contest,
your score should be correct.
However, a serious problem arises when you go to submit your log in that an
Ontario county is not a legitimate MiQP exchange and multiplier. " ON" is
the multiplier, and is the correct received exchange. Any QSO lacking a
legitimate received exchange will be disallowed.
If one were so inclined, you could operate the contest in this way, then
edit all the Ontario counties to "ON" afterwards. (Of course, then it
could be asked as to why you didn't simply enter "ON" when you worked the
VE3 station.) If you're planning on submitting a OntQP log in addition to
the MiQP log, after the contest you can make a copy of your log file,
change the VE3 counties to "ON" and submit it.
