If you downloaded the Karlnet software last week and your computer is now hosed, Karlnet had a bad .dll file in their setup program that they did not find until after I donwloaded it wednesday Oct. 16 2002(over 24hours after release). When I called them today, they were going to send me a fix, I haven't get it yet. Currently I only broke two of our Win98 workstations with it. Brian at the Karlnet support department said they replaced the setup program since then. They decided not to notify any body or place a warning on their website, just notify people when they call. I am now going to start to look for alternative wireless solutions. Pity. I have installed this new configurator, and I have noticed that I am able to determine the HW/Software configuration of any device that is derived from Karlnet software, without a password. It uses UDP port 192 to do this...anyone wish to comment? Chris |
