Thanks for the tip, Jim. I found and fixed the problem--the keying
transistor in the interface was bad. Just to cover all the bases, I tried a
friend's identical interface and it worked fine. Mine did not. I replaced
the keying transistor and mine works fine now, too. It seems strange that
the failure mode of the transistor was such that the interface keyed
properly when used with 9.27 but was a key-down carrier with 9.47/9.53, but
that's what happened. Thanks to all for your help and advice. Saul K2XA
