Not a slam on Jim at all: he did a great job of reporting what happened and
made it a compelling read. Without his book I doubt that more than a handful of
people would have known how the outcome was determined. I don’t remember seeing
it reported anywhere else. Maybe I missed it.
I just hope that other contests use the technology they are requiring to
determine the final results. If I get a busted Q but have a clear recording of
the entire exchange supporting my log, then it should be judged accordingly.
Otherwise why bother recording?

Subject: RE: [CQ-Contest] Great book
Hi Ken,
My comments really were only about the actual (downloadable) book itself ; what
I feel was/is pretty darn good writing and keeping me interested even though I
have read dozens of webpages, videos, pictures and accounts about the WRTC
2014, the author knew how to keep the reader engaged. (I feel anyways……I am at
73% into it and will finish it this weekend.)
I believe what you are probably referring to is whether N2IC/N5DX should’ve
taken Bronze and really is outside the scope of my comments and probably does
the Author a disservice since neither he nor I had any hand in that decision
making.
If you still feel compelled to comment on the 2014 WRTC outcome, may I please
ask you if you reply to this, to change the subject line to something other
than “Great Book” and we can surely continue that discussion?
Tnx

Even though you know the outcome, the way it was judged did surprise me. Given
the emphasis on technology these days, it appears that the technology was
ignored and decisions were made by the old gut-feeling type of decision making.
I was a bit underwhelmed to say the least. Why bother with all the technology
if you are just going to ignore it?

I bought it on a whim the other night (from amazon.ca) and have had a hard
time putting it down ! I find myself even on coffee breaks picking up my
smartphone to try to get another ½-chapter in.
A real good read, even though I have read a lot online about WRTC2014, N3BB
really brings the event alive with his writing style & more details of
pretty much everything..
Great job !
I am abt 70% done and even though I already know the outcome, I can’t wait
to read the final 30% of the book.
