In general, if a contest sponsor doesn't provide or support a particular
category, there is no reason not to sponsor it yourself. Collect the
entries yourself, wait for the scores to be published, and then write it
up yourself. The contest sponsors are usually pretty overloaded trying
to manage logs, check the scores, publish results, etc. As long as your
third-party category doesn't conflict with the contest rules or cause a
reduction in participation, a CWAC (Contest Within A Contest) is
generally seen as a good thing and welcome.
Bottom line - go for it!
