Here's another possibility for "The Perfect Contest" exchange...and to
bring Contesting more in alignment with other "sporting" events real-time
stats availability. Obviously, more skill will be required in this puppy.
First, every player registers no later than 24 hours before the contest
starts, to include the following:
1. Callsign
2. Multiplier Designation (State/Province/Country, etc.)
Instead of being assigned a 6 or 8 character/digit cryptic entry number,
what get assigned is an actual sequential entry number to be used in the
exchange (the reason will be clear further herein).
At least 8 hours before the contest starts, ALL participants can go to the
sponsor's website and get the following information:
1. Total Number of players/participants
2. Total Number of possible multipliers to be active
3. Total (Sub-Total) of players BY Multiplier (a clue to which may be the
toughies)
4. Total Possible Score if you work ALL players & ALL Mults :-)
THE EXCHANGE:
<QSO SERIAL NUMBER> <ii> <MULTS WORKED> <ii> <PLAYER (ENTRY) NUMBER> <ii>
<MULT NAME>
Ahhh...so you need to request a repeat of all or any of the exchange
components? No problemo.
QN? = QSO SERIAL NUMBER?
MW? = MULTS WORKED?
PN? = PLAYER (ENTRY) NUMBER?
MU? = (MU)LT?
The Logging software module would auto-calculate Q's x Mults & display an
"In progress score" for the guy you just worked, as well as a percentage
achieved vs. maximum total possible score. Of course, you would have the
same info and various options for a "Graphical" plot and remaining time
"best guesstimate" of your final score vs. time remaining based upon your
Qs & Mults as of any given moment. It's really all pretty simple TNX to
the wonderful world of computers. Yes, at time of entry we could ask for a
firm commitment to the class or category being entered (like SS), and this
incorporated into the exchange as well. We could also add name, age,
et.al. and make it more challenging...and boost the points-per-QSO higher
so everyone can still end up with a real nice high score at the end :-)
You're right..."The Perfect Contest" requires that ALL participants use a
software logging program.
FYI & 73...
