Then TX's state number would be 28. AK's state number would be 49. The
bigger the number the "greater" the state?:)

Hello all,
Now, now Dave. I understand they are going to "split" Alaska in two and
make Texas the THIRD largest state.:)

Is there a PacketCluster reflector oriented to sysops ?
I was once subscribed to list at VE7TCP but can't see it on his WEB page.

Just got some shoes for my Omni-D ...I acquired (long term loaner) a 30L-1 to
play around with. No mention of QSK in the manual. I figured I would give it a
try when I hooked it up over the holidays. Good idea? Bad idea?
I will have the Omni-D throttled back a bit (about 70W from 100W) and I am
concerned about Tom's, W8JIT, comments about slow ALC response of rigs in
general (contest reflector 11DEC96). The Omni-D has no ALC input. I don't
wanna be bustin' my bud's amp!

There have been some really interesting questions raised on the =
reflectors, lately. That's great and that's what they are there for. I =
am learning a lot just by all the reading. This winter, I may even =
replace tower bolts, spot the rust spots with spray-on galvanize, =
retension my guys, work out with PED and NA Practice more, and generally =
learn to be a better ham.
As to some of the questions posed on the reflectors recently: Don't =
forget about the search engines on the Internet. I did some searches on =
them for some questions raised on the reflectors and came up with the =
answers in less than two minutes. =20
Just a suggestion to check the search engines first, then pose the =
question to the reflector. =20
Of course, the downside to this is (1) not finding out about that =
information; (2) not being a good guy by providing the info to the =
question poser. Oh well....
Happy Holidays!! I hope Santa brings lots of sunspots, Q's, and mults!

Absolutely, and in addition to what Dale said I would like to add that
two sites immediately come to mind when I am searching for something
the web:
altavista.digital.com
and
www.yahoo.com
Joe Bob Marconi says "check it out."

I was looking at the rules for the Stew Perry contest and saw where you
can only take ONE break, is this from when you make your first QSO to
your last?
If so, don't look for me in this one. Looks like these rules were made
for the real serious contester that can sit down to contest that has
nothing else in life to do. Maybe I'm missing the point on this, why
only ONE break?
No big deal, was just wondering.....
Scott K8SM
1. Contest period: 1500Z December 28th to 1500Z December 29th, 1996.
Operate for a maximum of 14 hours. Off time is intended to be taken
during your daylight hours. Only one break may be taken between your
first and last QSOs, and must be of at least 30 minutes.

Many responses in a short time...THANKS to all
Summary:
* No QSK unless I specifically change things (T/R bypass/reed relay/etc).
- run semi-breakin
* Don't bother with the ALC control...let the exciter run normally.
* A real work horse...tough to kill
* 50/50 run the full 100W vs throttle back
- run the exciter linear and all should be fine
- mind the 2:1 SWR

Subject: Contact Number for ICE Needed
Message-ID: <32BAD572@smtpgate.mavericks.bt.co.uk>
Sorry for having to post this to the reflector, but I've searched the
internet and magazines I have kicking around. Can anyone give me a contact
phone number for ICE or a UK/Europe agent. I've referenced ICE's filters
(along with Dunestar) in my contesting column for RSGB Radio Communication
next month and need to give a contact number.
Have a great Christmas and New Year,
