I am always stocked with peanut butter, Gummi Bears [Very, very good
in 90 degree hot sticky weather..they get very soft.], instant coffee and Power
Bars.
These are essential items and not available in V31 LAND or most
Island areas.
I prefer to Cross-train with the Gummi Bears and ether Coke or orange
drink with very strong coffee.

The ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Home Shopping Network Joint Task Force on Giving
the Pollsters Someting To Do Now That the Primaries Are Really Boring has
projected the winner in the 1996 Poisson d'Avril radio contest.
The winner, by a 73's% landslide is WA6DGX.
Pre-entry poll data indicate that 88's% of prospective contest
participants were put off by the extraordinary efforts some contestants
were putting into contest preparation. They appreciated the candor with
which WA6DGX admitted he knew nothing at all about any of the crucial
issues related to the Poisson d'Avril contest.
Reached at his contest headquarters, WA6DGX refused to declare victory
"It ain't over till it's started. What, QVC is projecting I'll win?
Heck, then I guess I'll win."
President Clinton called with congratulations, to which WA6DGX replied
"Geez Bill, it's midnight and the contest doesn't even start until
Monday" and promptly went back to sleep.

Most big gun stations use 5KW to 10KW in order to spray RF in two
directions via split stacks of antennas. They "justify" the overage in
power by saying "its only about 2 kw in any one direction" !!!

YES, 5KW (applied to a sensitive part of the human body) is very shocking.

You are DEAD wrong, my friend. Many people own equipment which is
rated for over legal limit output. I am one of them. My Alpha 87A is a
dream to use, and - especially in contests - it stops me from causing fatal
errors. I NEVER - and I MEAN NEVER - go over the legal limit. I also own
a car which will do over 150 mph, yet that is not my intention. But it's a
real comfort to know that the amp (or car) is just idling along without
strain. My guess is that my Alpha will last my lifetime.
Please don't lump all the fish together in the same sea. I personally
know a local contest team (an often-winning team) that thinks that 2500
watts out is fine because "all the big guys do it, and if you don't, then
you're an idiot..." I have absolutely NO respect for him, and try not to
enter the same categories as he does. And when he takes a big win, he brags
about how great his station is! Go figure. It really gets my dander up, but I
sincerely believe there is not a thing I could do. I've spoken to them,
but my words fall on deaf ears. If I would reveal their identity, no one
could prove it and I WOULD be the one to suffer.
Some of us still play by the rules. Any awards I have, I have earned.
And I am proud of my accomplishments. And I have a big amp. So what?!
