Nicely done but two questions:

Why not just overlap the butt joint?

Would it be better to place the nylon screw heads on the inside?

I use Teflon sheet and nylon machine screws and lock nuts. Initially 
I was concerned about heat with the nylon hardware but I have not 
had any problems. Here is a chimney for a 4CX1500B which has been in 
service for 15 years at 1500 watts out, including high duty cycle modes:
