With 240v ac line input we get +3600 HV that means we already reached 450v
for 450v capacitor. Seen nothing is perfect if you measured each capacitor
some will show +455v and in the event there was a line voltage spike there
is a chance to blew them up. When I received my Al-1500 I installed some
500v to be on the safe side and cheaper than to buy a new board again
working on the edge.
Also the wiring is under size for the HV input transformer circuit and I
doubled the wiring circuit. Now the HV voltage drop is 200v instead of 600v
at 2kw. I did many mod to meet heavy duty usage 160-10m and safety taken
from commercial service engineer. Original specs are taken from the Eimac
tube what it could do and this Amplifier reached its limit at 1.5kw. I like
to have more head room, stable IMD and this is possible.

A friend of mine blew one of the filter capacitors in his AL-1500. As I
remember, the entire filter capacitor board, with capacitors and resistors
installed, was very reasonably priced.
($180?) I suspect that their Rectifier Board is also reasonable.
The techs at Ameritron are very friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to
deal with.
