I knew a ham back in Riverside, CA... after signing his call, he'd =
always
say... "Clear Channel Radio!"... anyhow, he ran a pair of 4-1000A's
vis-a-via DAF. As I recall, the Bird meter would peak out at about 5KW.
He also had another amazing amp. It was a pair of 4-65A's, again, using =
the
DAF approach. The bird (believe it or not) would indicate 1KW out! The
plates would go absolutely incandescent. Needless to say, he keep a =
ready
supply of replacements on hand.
His operating interests were 80 Meter B.S. with the heavies out in TX on =
the
"Alligator Net".
With all the splatter... he was truly a "Clear Channel Radio" kind of
station.
