I've taken to running 1k resistor(s) from the heater pin(s) to
feedthroughs in the compartment wall. There's no risk if the test point
gets shorted to chassis, and negligible reading error with a DVM.

Papst RG160 family (RS and Farnell) appear good value in UK.
