The totals above include raw QSO counts and bonus points.
This was the ninth consecutive year that Brian (AA2BJ) and I (Joe, WI2E)
operated from my home station in EPA. While we've been indoors since starting
back up again, we always remember starting in my backyard in 1986 and many
Field Days on Clausland Mountain with the Valley Cottage Crystal Radio
Club/W2DMC in the 8A category. This year, we once again enjoyed passing out as
many QSOs as we could to everyone in the field or on emergency power, and thank
you to all for helping to make our annual radio reunion a great time!
Brian took on the task of SSB from my station, and I was on CW and RTTY; we
split the operating time close to 50/50. The 2 AM - 7 AM Sunday window saw the
highest CW rates I can remember as the extremely quiet low bands meant I never
ran out of stations to work. Strangely, my most memorable contact is the one
SSB contact I made this weekend: many thanks to the W3AO Top Band op who pulled
me through the noise for something that is exceedingly rare for me--a barefoot,
summertime 160M voice QSO!
Thanks to everyone for the QSOs, and we're looking forward to next year!
73,
Joe
WI2E
