Comments:
Many thanks to Hector and his family for letting me operate. It would not be
possible without their time and effort on my behalf. Mil Gracias!
The contest was fun, but getting across the border afterwards in under 20
minutes had me giddy! Last time we spent 3 hours in the car inching toward the
crossing. This time we left around 01Z, got a ride to the crossing and went on
foot. I had my K3 in a rolling carry on bag and my laptop bag over my shoulder.
Short and sweet!
I did not have any sleep reserve so this year's operating total is lower than
I'd hoped. A 3 hour nap was squeezed in Saturday afternoon and Sunday after
midnight I had to rest and slept for 5 hours. I did get back on before sunrise.
There was a lovely quiet period on 80 during Saturday night when I could hear
some EU stations very clearly. A few managed to break through my US pileup and
when I got the US to standby, the buzz from a number of DX stations was
gratifying, but I could not copy them well enough for a QSO! Sorry. I'd like to
know who called and didn't get through. Email me at n6an@arrl.net.
I never heard zones 21, 22, 34, 37, 40 and did not get JV1A's attention when I
heard him Saturday morning on 40.
Thank you to the many JAs who called in on several bands, especially 20 and
40.
When I scan through the 3830 results I am stunned by how many callsigns were
never heard the entire weekend. A combination of conditions and being in the
right place at the right time, I guess. Propagation to EU was never
particularly good and to the Middle East seemingly nonexistent.
Another great CQWW weekend. Thanks for all the QSOs.
73, David XE2GG/N6AN
ps Congratulations to my fellow DXXE members for keeping zone 6 active!
Felicidades!/
