Comments:
Friday, I really didnt know I was going to be doing a Multi-Single operation
from the home QTH and the xyl didnot also.
I had planned to take off from work at about noon, get the computer set up with
TRLOG and have some fun. But do a few other things out side this weekend.
Well that got changed because I mentioned it in our club online newsletter that
the station was open. Don, W0DET and K0CL came down and we had a great time and
the xyl, even though she got sick with a cold really pulled this together.
This was the first time for me to use Writelog and band mapping. We hooked it
up to Don's laptop and through my internet server we were on but as usually
this came at the last minute and we missed some run time at the beginning of
the contest doing that and me learning how to use the program.. The station
set up is real simple..Radio, is a FT1000d and the antenna' s are. A3S at
80ft. TH6Dxx at 20ft. pointed to SA fixed. Dipole at 60ft for 40mtrs and
Dipole at 80ft for 80mtrs and a sloping wire for 160mtr starting at 80ft and
going down to 2ft off the ground. No beverages here. Small city lot with lots
of noise. and sometimes Pissy neighbors. Hi.
We started on 10mtrs but never really got the run of JA's there. Did better on
15mtrs-2omts and this was to keep up the whole weekend. Friday night it was
W0DET and myself, both getting sleepy and catching a few quick naps that
night... Friday night on 40mtrs I should have found a freq and ran a few JA's.
I just settled for the Sand P that night. Saturday night I got lucky and had a
small run that really helped the score. Plus we caught a few EU saturday on
40mtrs also..A beam is in store for that band..
There were a number of highlights but working a VU during a run on 15mtrs and
the 20mtr run over the poles to EU friday night stands out to me. Plus having
my friends spend sometime is always precious.
We want to thank all the operators over the world who heard our little signal
and gave us some of there time...Thanks to all, from all of the" Old Mens" club
of the GMC, We just keep trucking with the Heartbeat of America. PTL and God
Bless, Bill Brown K0UK
