I had planned on getting home about 12noon. running a few short beverages so I
wouldnt have to listen on the 40 and 80mtr dipole. Neah that didnt work. Had to
meet with a client in Montrose, Co. about a hour drive south. Dark clouds
looming on the horizon. Made it back to the house by 4:30pm. Its now snowing
and raining and just plain nasty out. Here we go again, not doing the work
before hand...Which logging program do I use. Oh, I will try CT. 9.53 I havent
used that in a while. Get it all set up and get on. Hear K0DU and he is about
8 qso's a head of me. I dont feel to bad he says he has been fighting computer
problems and some noise. Plus the band here doesnt open till about 6pm anyway.
But Jerry location gives him a big edge. Finally start to work some stations.
I hear NP4A and XE2RCS both with good signal. I get through to the XE but I
have to wait a while on Pedro. Hear some others from back east but they just CQ
in the 150 face.
I slowly notice the noise going up and up and up. This isnt going to be fun. I
had to kick in the attenuator because the BC qrm is still going. I guess KREX
has not switched to low power or directions. But its the QRN that is getting
even more intense. First back east station heard was K9NR I believe, I tried
calling and could not make the trip.
The noise keep getting worse. Thus at 11:30pm. Bill Mahr and the incorrect
political and the wife and daughter pull me from the ear phones, yeah right I
was ready to go... My ears where killing me and like Doug W0AH my back isnt the
greatest.
Oh, theres the next night and the noise is just as bad. One interseting fact.
As the sun came up on saturday morning and sunday morning the noise was going
down.. Go figure. Anyway I like CW better for this type of abuse.
Had fun. Worked lots of old friends and new ones plus ran in to a K6 that lived
in Grand Junction at one time. Its fun to contest and have a chat at the same
time. My hats off to the fine ops both casual and serious type...Where else but
the gentlemens band can you break in to work a mult and the gentlemen lets you
use his frequency. Can you see that on 20mtrs.
Peace and Grace to All..God Bless K0UK bill brown GMC Keeps Trucking with the
Heartbeat.
