Again, the Golden Bear Telephone Pioneer Amateur Radio Club and the
River City Contesters joined forces at KN6OX's family property east of
Sacramento in the foothills near Latrobe, Ca. We tried RTTY and we
tried Solar Panel Natural Power for the first time. No Mountain Lions
this year, but we did have a young cottontail bunny that kinda roamed
through the site. ("Run away, run away"). Our Pacific Bell supplied van
mounted 4.5 kw generator barely kept up with the two amplifiers,
especially when the cw op was doin' F1 duty.
This year we brought real CRT monitors so that we could see what we were
doing in the early am when temps were cold enough to ruin the displays
on the laptops. We shudda brought real keyboards too. I hate doing
Shift = to get +. No 10m that we could find.
