COMMENTS: I have a plaque on the wall that says I once won a SSB DX Contest
(ARRL, 1996); since one was more than enough for this CW op, I've decided to
just have fun in them from now on. This means I've chosen not to endure the
daytime racket on 20 in an attempt to find new ones to work beneath the
first layer of USA stations and the second layer of already-worked DX
stations, the unspeakable nighttime mess on 40, and the frustrations of low
power operation on 75 and 160. The totals thus represent a serious effort
on 10 and 15 and a token one elsewhere -- but I DID have fun!
Best ears award: a tie between JA1AJT, who heard me on 10(!) and 9A1A. Yes,
9A1A; during the Sunday opening on 10 to Southeastern Europe that began
about 17Z, I heard and called several stations who CQ'ed in my face (which,
as a low power station, I am used to during the beginning of a new opening).
9A1A, though, came back to me on the first call -- which reminded me that
9A1A is also one of the only eastern EU stations that has ever managed to
pull me through on 160 as well. Thanks, guys; you're an alligator with ears
to match!
