My first IOTA contest and first visit to the Isles of Scilly (EU-011).
My location was in the middle of St. Marys and was not ideal as the
island was a lot hillier than I was expecting!
I did not operate the full 24 hours and regret (not really :-) going to
the Island disco on Friday night/Saturday morning as I had to sleep
during the contest!
I found that 100W and a vertical is not competitive enough for the
contest and I lost my run frequency _many_ times (anonyingly several
times to G stations who I could hear)
Still the Isles of Scilly are a super place for a holiday and I have
booked my visit for IOTA next year with a more competive antenna system
planned (beam and dipoles).
M7A is the contest callsign of De Montfort University. The IOTA logs are
