The solar flux was down a bit this year as compared to last year. (69
verses 74). I didn't think that a small 5 point differential in flux was
all that important, but it cost me 55 QSO's on 10 meters and 136 on 15m.
However, the QRN on the low bands was lower this year.

In a strange ironic twist, it seems that the "Black Hole" got a 15 meter
European opening that we didn't get here in the South. I worked just a
handful of Europeans, while it seems that the midwest guys had a much
better opening.

What a fun contest! The 24 hour format makes this an easy contest to
operate. Went to a baseball game Friday night, Got up at my regular time
on Saturday morning, leisurely went about my morning routine, sat down
and operated the contest, went to bed for a few hours and got up just
before noon Sunday. The 1200Z start/stop time is very convient for us
stateside guys.

Its neat to operate a contest full-bore, and still have Friday night and
most of Sunday.

Larry K4AB
