Anyone wanting to see actual measurements of radial systems needn't look very far. You can download Brown, Lewis, and Epstein's data from k6MHE's site: http://k6mhe.com/BLE.html If you go to page 12

W8JI: especially while Omni. There just isn't any magic. Simple "magic" for Omnidirectional gain: 10 log (X / 1.5kW) = +10 dB. Solve for X. Q.E.D. 73, Bill W4ZV ______________________________________

Correction: That's wrong. I said .4dB and it is 20 log 192/196 or 0.2dB and that makes this wrong We would gain a whopping 0.2 dB going from 60 radials to 113 radials when the radials are 1/2 wave lo

Aren't all these figures ground wave? That's quite useful for broadcasters, as that's where the consumer radios are, but do we know by measurement of some kind what the results would be at even 5 deg

Yuri brought up the point that the large ground system aided low wave angles, giving four square gain from an omni antenna. The fact is there just isn't that much power being wasted close to the ant
