W8JI's page says to trim back any substantial foliage in contact with the wire. He says he's never seen a problem allowing a wire to contact a branch, although he does trim out the branches to avoid

If not for the brush, mine would be on the ground ! I use insulated wire and route it over limbs, hang it with small cord under limbs etc. I do keep them straight and at a fairly uniform heighth. If
