- Hi, Longest wire I can get up here is my 80/40 meter W7FG doublet about 125 feet long; center fed via 600 ohm ladder line. So, it is about 1/4 wave on 160 metes. Using my tuner, with extra capacity s

- Jim - I dont know how high your doublet may be BUT I'd recommend an Inverted L since you have the horizontal space for it.. A low horizontal antenna won't buy you much regardless of the matching issu

- Jim, I'm sure you know this already, but, using a multiple of 1/4 wavelength feedline(at 160m) will resonate your antenna. So, since you didn't specify the length of your feed line, it is unknown wha

- Hi Jim My first 100 countries were worked with an 80m doublet about 45' high - with 66' of wire added to each end of it, which were sloped down to the fence lines, so the ends were about 8' off the g

- Hello Jim! Well, I've also only been able to erect a simple wire doublet from my QTH. At first, I was relatively lucky, in that, I had the use of a 125 tower across the road from my house, to which I

- I can tune my 80m. open wire fed dipole on 160, and it works pretty well. The tuning is very sharp; +/- 10 kHz at the very most. I had to make some additional feedline to add in to the feeder to get
