Kim, While I am unaware of an online user group for the FT-736R, I will make a comment on computer control of that radio. If I recall correctly, the 736 has an unusual computer control arrangement in

Partially correct - yes the FT736 only takes commands, there is no feedback or polling. I wrote a program on an old CP/M system back in 1983 when I got my FT736 but without polling, it's not very use

If you want to confirm the interface is working you might try using SATPC32. I seem to recall helping the developer test some functionality on my FT736 approx 10 years ago. It worked well for me when
