I've made many MS WSJT contacts however about 25% of mine were not pre-arranged but random. Try tuning to 144.140 and call CQ U4 (example: CQ KI4FIA U4), put your rig in SPLIT mode and listen to 144

I do not use WSJT but not because of needing to make a schedule to make the contact. I do think random contacts are possible from what I have been told by the experienced WSJT operators. Ron ________
