I am considering a Create LPDA for a roving station. Thinking it'll sit nicely on the roof of my fifth wheel. This would allow me to work all bands from 6m to 1.2 Ghz with a single antenna. I can als

Hi: I've used the (IIRC 105 thru 1300 MHz ?) version for several years. I'm happy with my purchase. That being said it is not my primary contesting antenna and it stayed at home during the last conte

Hi all, I had a Creative Design LP years ago. Realizing it's a compromise both gain wise, only 3 elements make up the log cell per say, and limited front to back isolation, I present the following di

When I just got started in VHF roving about 4 years ago, I thought the log periodic made sense too. I purchased one, but am embarrassed to admit I didn't realize it was a bit too wide to be taken poi

I've used tri plexers with my smaller LPDA on occasion (in one case I cascaded two together) to eliminate the need to switch cables. I'm quite sure there were losses but if one is prepared to accept

Like all things in contesting, I think it depends on one's goals and circumstances. Sure, an LPDA will not perform as well as long (maybe even mid-length) yagis. But... it also will cost less, take u

I think if you're close to a metropolitan area with a lot of people to work who are close by, the log periodic is the way to go. Some of the Rovers in the Chicago area I know use LPDA's. My favorite

Hi all, Create claims the gain of the 50-1300MHz LPDA is 10-12dBi (~8-10dBd). I don't see how those numbers could possibly be accurate given the element taper and the boom length etc.. Reports of per

Maybe someone can bring one to a Central States conference or another conference where antenna testing is done? Kent WA5VJB has always been accurate and impartial in his measurements. 73, Zack W9SZ _

I remember seeing one at the NEVHF Conference a few years back. Gain was low at about 4- 5 dBd but at 900 MHz the main lobe started to have a double lobe out front. Not good and reduced the gain ther

Having used the smaller Create LPDA I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment of the gain, but I I have never measured mine so I can't really comment. Subjectively the front to back ratio on

Mark, Good point if you have to set up each antenna on a separate mast at each location. On my 10 band rover, 2M-3456 were already roof mounted and ready to go, 6M was a separate mast that took about

A LPDA is a compromise antenna at best. On top of that I don't think their made to use on a full-time Rover. That is alot of money for a compromised solution. The real question is are you willing to
