re the "poorer than should be" RX performance on 160.. dont forget the "TUNED" mode for the front end inserts deliberate reduction in front end gain for the 1.8-7.5 mhz front end amp. I have measured

Hi all This is another example pointing to why I chose 1825.5 for XZ1N.. actually, most any fractional KHz is probably wise for an expedition TX frequency, and any round 10KHz is a worst choice. == R

looks like interesting spot propagation again.. Listened to a dead band beginning about 1415- the HS marker was audible but weak. Heard a snippet of cw twice without callsigns between 1430 and 1440.

I have only had partial success with my "solution", similar to K2WI suggests. I use QSX 11R5 /TX or QSX 11R5 ES TX, or if it is really slow, QSX 11R5 AND TX. My experience it that the JA respond fine
