I am getting significantly strong images on 160 with this preamp - 2nd season with new rx antennas and lines, no remote switching relays like I had last year which I suspected had rectifying contact

Jim - I dont know how high your doublet may be BUT I'd recommend an Inverted L since you have the horizontal space for it.. A low horizontal antenna won't buy you much regardless of the matching issu

I ve used Home Depot epoxy as well and after it's dried apply plain-jane silicone seal to the wire entry points -- seems to adhere well to the insulation altho I dont know abt teflon... _____________

Id be especially careful to choke the feedline at the loop - esp on a tower with all that metal so close else you're loop will be a great noise magnet. _______________________________________________

Interesting - here in NNJ around 0200Z conditions were quite good - the band almost sounded like 20meters into EU. And this is with very modest equipment and rx antennas ... _________________________

I think what Tom may have meant is that it would have less costly IF they solved the issue a lot earlier. Who knows what Yaesu is really thinking but I can tell you at my firm - Nortel - customer fee
