The directional pattern shown in fig 7-28 of LOW BAND DX-ing, ed 3, was modeled with EZNEC ! You can see a very substabntial amount of coupling and an almost useless radiation pattern resulted, which

The coupling was on 160. The elevated radials are for the 80m antenna. On 80 the Beverages did NOT have the same problem (at least MUCH less). Also, the coupling was clearly demonstrtaed by modeling
