Hello, I recently purchased a ncl-2000 as my first amp. The meter backlight bulbs were dimly glowing just brightly enough to see the filaments. I checked the bulbs and they were not the type shown in

My experiment goal was to see if I could get my NCL-2000 amp to load on 30 and 17 meters without changing the existing bandswitch and tank circuit wiring. I figured that the 40m and 20m bandswitch se

I'm looking for anyone familiar with the NYE MB-V-A tuner. I bought one today and it has a problem. The seller will refund if I can't find a fix, but I'd really like to keep this tuner if possible. T

I operate SSB with my NCL-2000 only to chase 'new ones'. While doing this on 17m I noticed that the top lid above the tubes was awfully hot. The high temperature persisted in SSB mode even if I wasn'

I wonder if the software radios are comparable to the K-3? If so, isn't SDR the least likely to become obsolete. Has anyone discussed the performance differences between the two radios? Also, how muc

Jim, That's the first I've heard of latency problems. This is why I was hoping to get some discussion going, because K3 and SDR owners are invariably sold on their eqpt but haven't compared the two.

Thanks Phil, K3 + LP-Pan+SDR sounds like a $5000+ transceiver. It's hard to tell how much of each is actually being used. From my perspective, I'm trying to decide which approx $2500 solution will ha

Bill, I browsed the WinKey site and it didn't pop right out as to how/why WinKey solves SDR latency. Could you expand on that just a little? tx frank w0ecs ___________________________________________

Jim, That's the third time I've heard "don't expect good CW operation out of the box" (on air comments). So, it sounds like a K3 would be a lot less trouble - maybe SDR needs S/W 'geeks' to fully uti

Thanks Bill, That explains how they eliminate latency on the character formation. It sounds like the between-character latency would remain, but I guess the longer timing is less affected by latency.
