I'm the recent proud owner of an early (SN 151) AL-80. After reworking the power supply, I finally have it running (sort of). Latest 'issue' is the Loading control seems to be at or near full C (max

Maybe I can get the ranting/flaming to stop with a distraction: I've gotten my early AL80 one-lunger to work pretty well, and added many protection mods (no, no nichrome involved). One thing I notice

I have an AL-1200. The manual CLEARLY states not to rewire the amp so that the high voltage is above 3600 volts. I was tempted to do this, as with my line voltage and configuration, my amp runs about

I have had an AL-1200 for over a sunspot cycle. It has run well, but never quite made the 'full boat' in terms of output. 1300 watts usually is what I get. HV runs a tad low, around 3450 volts no loa

I have an AL-1200, which puts out varying amounts of RF, with varying efficiencies across the bands. I have also noticed this on mu LK-500ZB. Here's what the AL-1200 does: Drive is probably 105 watts

Noticed that input SWR on the AL-1200 was pretty high on 80 and 20, so I decided to do a realignment of the input circuits. After alignment, got lots more smoke out on 20 - 1600 watts now with 105W d

Quite often the cause of the 'missing first dit' is that the exciter is making RF before the amp has switched over to transmit. The exciter sees a high SWR, and on rigs such as the 765, folds back th
