I have had several mp's develop sticky amp keying relays. This is now my most common reason to have them serviced and would like to avoid this if possible. I see the band data jack has a tx ground th

David, The Band Data keying line should work fine. However, if you are getting "sticky" relays, that means the amplifiers have a significant back EMF spike when they are unkeyed (enough to generate a

Me too, but an Alpha87 and TenTec Titan. Works great! If you are going to drive a relay, just make sure you put a reverse current protection diode and cap across the coil to guard against transient s

I use an Ameritron ARB-704 amp interface. It costs less than shipping the FT-1000MP in for service, which is pretty cheap protection for any number of amp/radio interfacing problems. Not nearly as se

Yes, and a cheaper alternative is the N0XAS "Universal Keying Adapter 2" kit, which gives optical isolation between rig and amp on the keying line. My IC-750Pro used to suffer from "sticky" c/o relay

I can understand it when driving a 100v keying line, but these hf-2500 amps use either 12v or 24v depending on vintage and about 75ma drain. Not a very hefty current even for those little relays. Wha

Well, I found one band data plug in my spare plugs and wired up the one that went really bad last week to key from the band data jack, works just fine with the hf-2500. now I could use 4 more plugs,

The connector is known as the DIN8/262. It's available at The RF Connection (www.therfc.com) and some of the larger parts houses (Mouser, Digikey, Newark). 73, ... Joe, W4TV _________________________
