Hi everyone, Anyone know what purpose the NB on the FT-990 serves? I know, the manual says it reduces "pulse noise". Ok, entering from where? The front end? DC input? I have LOTS of "pulse noise" in

I would say that your noise blanker is no working correctly, if at all. The noise blanker on the 990 is by far the best I have ever seen. I have all kinds of pulse noise, and it takes it right out. M

The NB on my 990 seems to deal very well with power-line noise consisting of 60Hz/120Hz arcs and with electric-fence arcs. It doesn't deal with random 'hash' or 'hiss'. A good way to see if it's func

Mine works well also. It think my TS-830 has best noise blanker I heard. The only problem I have with the NB on 990 is I think there is too much blanking with control set at minimum. I rarely adjust
