Peter; See if you can alter the brightness by turning the clarifier control while holding in the fast button. You may be able to increase it. Dave WA0ZZG _____________________________________________
Good evening all. I've just finished installing the Inrad roofing filter mod for the FT-1000D. Interesting little kit. Recommend that if you attempt this kit that you have a very small iron available
Before you give up on your 1000D, have you tried the INRAD roofing filter mod? It really tightens up this radio. I decided just to keep it and avoid the additional expense. Dave WA0ZZG ______________
I just added the Inrad roofing kit to my '1000D. I have an original print service manual. Components are still the type I can work on. Still haven't seen a compelling reason to replace it. Dave WA0ZZ
I've received several requests for additional information on the Inrad roofing filter kit for the '1000D, so decided to pass along my observations. 1. Kit isn't that hard to install. Inrad does as th
Randy; I really don't have the radio in fron of me, I'm eating lunch at work. I seem to remember there being two screws per knob. Did you take them both out? Otherwise try a couple of tricks. Tap the
On Fri, 06 Jan 2006 12:00:11 -0500 First: Intermittants like this must be checked into a dummy load. If you can't get the radio to act up into a load, carefully check the antenna. The VSWR unit is a
Yes, I would expect this. Have you checked to see if they have another controller board? Please let the rest of us 1000D owners know how you come out. Dave WA0ZZG ____________________________________
I had a similar problem with my 1000D. But it was only with very strong signals. Ended up finding the Tx PIN diode was leaky and messing up the input to the receivers. Replaced it with a 1N4007 power
The E-prom is on the CPU board. Suggest you find a copy of the service manual. You will need to remove both covers, tip the front panel forward, and the CPU board is in the metal box on the left. Sug
Tim; Neither receiver goes through the tuner. I would suggest looking for something like a bad ground on the low-pass filter board. That's where a log of RF gets switched. Dave WA0ZZG _______________
Mike; Sorry to hear you had a disappointing phone conversation. I know its exciting for me to be able to call AES and just tell them to 'ship it'. Have you called Yaesu and checked if they can ship o
I seem to remember that Yaesu changed some of their communications protocalls and current software uses the newest. You may have to get a software upgrade from yaesu. I also seem to recall that the s
This is a nice debate. The FT-1000 series are all nice radios. But I will have to place my vote for the 'D'. I have a 'D' that was purchased from a Ham's widow and tried to be used on CB. CB'er thoug
OK; here's one problem that really has me stumped. I have a FT-5100 dual bander on my bench. Needed the battery replaced. Got that done and back together. Did a system wipe and loaded in the startup
Good evening again. Well this weekend, I pulled out my old Beckman logic analyzer and started tracking down the scan command in the FT-5100 and found the problem. Between the display board and the CP
I suspect the problem will be on the Low-pass filter board. If you have already checked pin diodes, check the relays around the filters. Also check the relay the switches the tuner in and out. Good l
Most of you are right. A good roofing filter will help a well designed receiver. There are a few issues to consider: 1. The radio's frequency reference better be just about right on. There's not much
John; You are going to have to better define this problem. 1. The 1000D has two receivers, do both show the same problem? 2. Do you have the second receiver front-end? Do you have the problem through
Good evening from Iowa; Those of you that have a FT-1000D and consider the cooling system fan too loud may want to review this page: http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/FT_Fan.html It has been posted
