K7PUC, Alfred, Call MFJ. I used their 259 analyzer which is an excellent product. Why don't you go buy one and a 4080V antenna and let us all know what you get versus your method of measuring impedan

the 259 provides the full complex impedance if i remember right. by only reporting the real part you are leaving off half the story. to better analyze what is happening you need to record and report

If I remember right, it doesn't tell you the sign of the reactance - you have to dope that out by shifting the frequency a little and seeing if it goes up or down with plus or minus change in freq.,

reactance - you and seeing if it it's not all THAT Some analyzers do that automatically. The problem is watching X change while you vary frequency does not tell you the correct sign of the reactance
