Having the elements UNDER the boom makes the most sense mechanically for installation and forces up in the air. The KLM's are the only ones I can recall that want elements above the boom. But I don't

I've always put the elements on top of the boom. No particular reason, I just thought if the elements are on top then the boom itself fully supports the weight of the elements and the element to boom
