Howdy - I assembled a new LJ-105CA 5 element Hy-Gain yagi for 10 meters this past week. I put it up temporarily on a mast to work on it. For some reason 3 of the 4 5" stainless steel bolts on the mas

I also recommend an anti seize compound. Make sure the compound specifies that it is good for stainless hardware. Some of the compounds used for exhaust manifold bolts have a high nickel content whic

Or most likely your local fastener supplier, or Ace Hardware if you talk to a knowledgeable clerk. Like others have already said, SS NEEDS an anti seize compound or bolts and nuts become one. Gaullin

I've never felt comfortable about using oil- or grease-based materials on threads that are supposed to stay tight afterwards. A lesser-known feature of Loctite and similar thread locking fluids is th

I believe you will find that even the so called permanent Loctite, will cleanly release with a bit of heat. However if the proper torque is achieved with neverseize the nuts will not come loose. OTOH

This is a common problem with stainless steel hardware referred to as thread galling. You should have put anti-seize (on them before tightening. See details about this in the book "UP THE TOWER" or h
