When I lived in Homestead, FL I did this... The ground there is coral - or - oolite - it is too hard to dig with a pick and shovel and you have to use something mechanical.... it is plain olde hard!

Eugene, I contacted the tower manufacturer and was told that I could use a square hole that was 5 by 5 by 5 or a circular hole that was 4 by 6. The square hole is 125 cubic feet and the round one is

Thanks for the pointer. I can't see much detail - it appears that maybe the towers themselves do not rotate, so the rotator must be put up at the top of the tower. But I'll send of for their catalog
