- MAKING MAST STEPS There are a lot of pro's and con's about climbing a mast with steps. Here is what works for me. My masts are all half inch wall. The steps are cut out of 2" channel iron 15" or 16"

- I find 1 1/4 -1 1/2 steel angle iron works fine. I carry 6-8 of them in ny truck. I use a 2' u-bolt and saddle, like those that come with KLM and FORCE 12 antennas. I welded the saddle on the outside
