Hello Jon, Well my location here is similar in that the sea is within 500 yards from here. My answer to corrosion has been to assemble the antenna using an Anti-Oxidant then paint the whole antenna.

Actually I don't recommend either of these techniques. I think you are referring to RTV when you say silicon. It outgasses a solvent during its cure which may not be in the best interest of the elect

Hi, Jim -- You and me both! Vapor wrap is a material (typcially butyl rubber) that keeps the vapor/moisture out of a connector joint. CoaxSeal is a cheap imitation but can perform the same function -
