I heard a story about an Orion rotator failing. It was turning a MonstIR using a 2 inch mast. Is there anyone on this list using the Orion with a big antenna such as the MonstIR? If so, has it failed

Better to have the mast slip than have something break. My solution to this problem is to use the Green Heron Engineering controller. You just re-calibrate and do so whenever the mast slips again/mor

Going to a 3" mast should improve the grip, however before I would do that I would carefully look at the mast clamp. There has been a lot of posts about the Orion clamps slipping and the bolts loosen

The coax loop is only an issue if the antenna slips on the mast. It is not an issue if the rotator slips on the mast and you reset it in software. Rick N6RK _________________________________________
