Two ways to do it. One is to interlace the EHS thimble with the Phyllistran thimble. Best to do that before you attach either guy or big grip. The other method is to use a shackle to connect the two

Well, that's one way to open up a thimble, but a little too Neanderthal for my tastes ;-) I usually capture one half of the thimble in a vise, with the long dimension horizontal, and the thimble open
