I thought splices would show up as a ring or series of closely spaced rings. When he said "bumps" that had me thinking a a round bump, or "pimple" on the jacket and I've never seen a splice look like

Andy & others, Yes, the bumps are pimple-like, but there is also a manufacturer's splice which was an inch-wide ring around the cable. I knew of the splice a long time ago. I'll be replacing the cabl
