I need an education on bearings. The question is the axial or thrust rating of guesstimate thereof on bearings that do not show that spec. As example the bearing I believe used on a RTS rotating towe

I think the wiki advice is limited to deep groove ball bearings and is consistent with what I've seen in bearing catalogs i.e. ~20% of axial rating is ok for thrust in the size ball bearings I'm fami

should say "20% of radial rating" A spherical roller is designed to withstand angular shaft misalignment or deflection which would occur when the tower leans a bit under heavy load. OTOH, the top row

I think it's time someone clear the air, again, about what thrust bearings are and what radial alignment bearings are. I don't have time. But radial clearance is not much of an issue with a radially

"Thrust Bearing" marketing (and folklore) wins over engineering! If the posts are searched the engineering is all there. Grant KZ1W On 7/29/2019 9:28 AM, Wilson Lamb wrote: I think it's time someone

Years ago when I bought the Tristao 71 foot crank up. Bob Henry tried to sell me a Rohn thrust bearing. I corresponded with Lou Tristao and he said since the tower had what he called a side bearing o
