Take a look at what is done in coax powered devices. I think the old heathkit switch used 100mh to keep the rf off the dc stuff. Just look for a common inductor in that range that will handle the cur

Rather than a MOV, what you really want is a big power zener. The MOV dies a little each time it clamps. The Zener keeps on ticking. So put a reverse biased 20V (or whatever you feel comfortable with
