One thing I discovered that works really well when you are on the tower is to use a heavy (like 3 in) ratchet strap. Just put it around the section that needs to be squeezed a bit and start cranking

Took about 4 years for my 2 ele to fail. The plastic mounts for the motors and gear bushings got hot and got discolored. They cracked which then allowed the cogs to miss the copper tape and the motor

Mine has been up since 2005 in NM very similar conditions but with some ice at 7200 ft. It has outlasted a Steppir and a Tic ring rotor. I also agree with the SWR issues with wind. I built mine with
