I use Pre-Lube 6 on the winch of a US Tower. The lube does not attract foreign material and lubes the inner strands as well. The lube is in a spray can and easy to apply. I believe the military uses

A synthetic lube is probably the best, but an expensive alternative. Hub City's gear reducers (as used on US Towers) recommends thier p/n 8-58-00-01-011 which I believe is Exxon-Mobile's SHC634 synth

One can easily does my 72ft US Tower a couple times. I lube every 6 months. I use a home-made "lube catcher" to avoid overspary loss. I don't recall how many feet long the tower cables are. Mel, K0PF
