Grant, That's going to be the same filter you would see on the output of a SMPS like in a computer, adjusted for higher voltage/current. You need to pass 16 kHz but attenuate everything above 1 MHz.

Did somebody say Sweepstakes? I have been using an AI1H dipole at 75-80' from the Detroit QTH for the last decade. You don't need 1500W or a NNY/VE8 section to be loud on 80 meters during this contes

At first glance of that video it doesn't sound like a mixing problem. That's demodulation of 5th harmonic of KKOH and very intermittent. 3900 kHz is 5th harmonic of 780 kHz KKOH. Since it is breaking

This will get you close. If 468/3.615 = 129.46' and 468/3.515 = 133.14' Then 133.14 - 129.46 = 3.68' or 1.84' (1' 10") per leg. Now if you know how long the dipole is that is up there now you could r

Chris, How are you measuring the SWR? Power meter or SWR analyzer? The SWR analyzer is sensitive to strong RF signalss. You notice this at field day when you see the SWR bounce all over the place bec

The antenna impedance won't change, it will still look like a typical dipole with or without the balun. The balun will act like a transformer over a fixed set of frequencies depending on core materia

Mea culpa. These observations were for a transmission line transformer. Specifically, a 4:1 200:50 ohm Guanella design with one side of the 200 ohm output grounded to make it a 4:1 unun. The designs

John, You didn't mention what you wanted to do. DX, domestic comms, etc. My 2nd tribander is on a garage mounted tripod @ 20-25 ft, it works FB but is used mostly as the 2nd radio antenna as it usual

Tramming is more of an issue when you have a large moment arm, the distance from the top guy to the point that the tram line is attached. On my 100' Rohn 45 the top guys are at 90' with 10' of tower
