Hi Tom, That's not a good Idea. 30 Ohm line is balanced and if you coil it up like that you will distroy the balance of the Line and it will not work well. But who know you could try it I would suspe

Don't think you'd notice one bit of difference between bare and insulated wire as far as the perfomance of the antenna goes.. it's not about ground contact but capcitance to ground. I have used verti

Hi Peter, I suspect that you would find that 1/4 Slopers phased correctly off the tower would work quite well and give you some directivity to boot. I used that very system back in the 70's for CQ WW

Wonder if you have tried to track down the noise source? It may be easier than trying to build another antenna in your situation. However with that said I would investigate a small rx loop of some so

Hi Tom , Yes it does , A Choke 1:1 Balun will help keep RF off the shield of the Coax. help to keep it from becoming one of the radials and will reduce noise pick being transfered to the Coax also..

Hi Tom, The main reason that you seldom see such a vertical antenna orientation of a long wire is because a you increase in Frequency. the main lobe tends to follow the wire.. for example if you mou

Hi, Well I've used Electrostatically Shielded loops in the past but they have always been for Receive only. and much smaller than a wavelength. If you are considering using this antenna for multiband
